3 Reason girls should Lift Weights when their focus is to Lose Weight

A) BECAUSE YOU CONTINUOUSLY NEED TO DO MORE WORK.

If you want to lose weight consistently, rather than just over 1-4 weeks and then plateau, you need to consistently do more work.

To do more work you have 3 basic options, work for longer, work quicker or work harder.

Working for longer is a game of diminishing returns. You have a job, a home life, responsibilities. What happens when you’re training an hour a day, 6 days a week? At what point do you run out of time? At what point do you simply get bored to death of training for hours on end? At what point can you not add any more rounds to your circuit? It’s actually pretty soon. Working for longer is a very finite approach. Life gets in the way.

Working quicker is pretty limiting too. Just how many reps is it possible to fit in a 30 second circuit station? How quick can you go before you start cutting reps short, how quick can you go before your technique suffers?

Working harder by lifting more weight however is nearly infinite. Most people will never know how much they can actually lift. They will never get near their full potential.

You can pretty much always add a little bit more load to a session and make it harder without making it longer or compromising your technique. Even if its just one weight on one set of one exercise. Your total weight lifted goes up with no added session time and very little risk of compromising your technique.

Lifting more weight is the most long term sustainable approach.

B) BECAUSE YOU DON’T WANT TO LOSE YOUR GOOD WEIGHT.

Everyone wants to lose fat but keep some size in their butt, have some defined abs and thighs and maybe even some shape to their back and shoulders.

Nobody wants to be paper thin, straight up and down and have no feminine curves.

All these curves are muscles, muscles that respond better to getting stronger. Muscles that are unlikely to hold any shape from solely cardio training because you don’t need dat ass to run 10k, but you do need dat ass to hip thrust 100kg.

You’ve got to give your body a reason to be in the shape you want it.

C) BECAUSE YOU WANT TO BE HEALTHY.

And being relatively strong is a key part of being healthy.

Unhealthy people can’t move their own bodyweight easily.

Unhealthy people struggle to move external loads.

Unhealthy people get out of breath taking their shopping up 2 floors.

It’s not that you’re unfit, its more that you’re weak.

Get legit strong and you will feel a whole lot healthier day to day.
